Shokac Series

Shokac CubeTM

An unprecedented "soft" tactile sensor.
The Shokac Cube is capable of measuring
displacement in all three directions.

The sponge itself is a sensor, measuring while maintaining its soft feel.

These sensors can be embedded in soft objects for use in interfaces that are safe and match the natural feel of the products they are in.

Built-in auto-calibration function. Mass produced yet highly durable.

Sensors need to be inexpensive, compact, and durable. Durability is a concern for sensors that use sponge-like material. Our Shokac Cube is made from spongy material that does not undergo hydrolytic degradation, and has a built-in, unique Touchence-developed auto-calibration function for a longer life. It is already being mass-produced, and has a track record of use in situations in which durability is a priority.

Robots
These sensors can be embedded in soft exterior material, achieving muscle-like flexibility.
Automobiles
These sensors can be embedded in seats to detect the postures of drivers and passengers.
Medicine
These sensors can be embedded in bed mattresses to acquire postural information regarding patients.
Video games
These sensors can be used in unprecedented new soft controller designs.

The number of measurement points and the shapes of the sensors can be customized.

Sponge and baseboard sizes can be modified based on how the sensors will be used. Although the sponge itself cannot be shaped in complex three-dimensional forms, it can be covered with silicone rubber or other exterior material to adjust the sensor softness and shape.
